This week Kassidy challenged her design team to try a new card fold for our project. I decided to try a side step card and followed the tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers. The card itself is not too difficult to make but the decorating of it was a bit more time consuming. However, I feel it was time well spent (it is afterall my "therapy" time:-) and I am quite pleased with the end result. All of my cuts are from Simply Charmed and I used a stamp from My Pink Stamper. The designer paper is from last year's Target dollar bin paper. I embellished it with Christmas twine from Doodlebug and some bling.
Don't forget to head over to Kassidy's blog to see the rest of the design team's projects. Also, challenge yourself to try a new card fold - it is always fun to try something new and creatively satisfying too:-)

BOO!!
I made a ghost shaped card using the cut from Smiley Cards. I absolutely love that cartridge:-) I chose not to weld the front and back together. Instead I scored the back card about an inch down from the top and added adhesive in that top inch. I did add the word "boo" from Simply Charmed and welded the shadow of the word using my gypsy. I only welded it to the front side of the card. I am going to enter this in the weekly challenge over at My Craft Spot.

Back to school/fall themed blog hop
Back to school/Fall themed blog hop
Setpember 10, 2011
Thank you for joining me on another blog hop!! For today's project I chose the back to school theme. My kids started school the middle of this week so I am still in the back to school mode. I have wanted to make a crayon wreath for awhile now. My youngest daughter is in 4th grade and I figured I better make one for her teacher now cuz she isn't going to want to give one to her teacher when she is in high school, wink, wink:-) It was actually not as difficult as I feared. I wrapped red ribbon around a styrofoam ring which I bought at Joanns. I used my hot glue gun to attach the crayons. I layered my cuts with a couple of shadows to make them a bit sturdier and then attached them to the wreath with the hot glue gun. I looped some ribbon on the top to help hang the wreath. I chose to use white vinyl for the teacher's name because it cuts better and yes, we call our teachers by their first name. I am also entering this into My Pink Stamper's Pinkalicious Blog Hop challenge.
Recipe:
scissors - simply charmed
backpack - doodlecharms
pencil - smiley cards
apple - create a critter
chalkboard - svg, but could easily make one with george
teacher's name - lyrical letters

Cherry Pie Shape Card
This is the card I made for my dad for father's day. It took a bit of "fanagling" but I got it to work out.

Birthday Party Invites
I made some fairly simple birthday party invites for my oldest daughter's birthday party. She turned 16 today and wants to have a BBQ with her friends to celebrate this momentous occasion. I needed to make 18 of these so I kept them simple also to help make them more "post office friendly":-) I will have you know there are a lot of layers on that hamburger!! They go together easily but took a good one hour to glue all 18!! I did it during soccer practice:-)
I used Simply Charmed for the hamburger and Cricut Keystone for BBQ. The rest was done on the computer. Like I said, simple!!

Penguin Happy Birthday
Made a "quick" (are they ever?!) card for my oldest daughter to give to her friend for her 16th bday. Her friend loves penguins so I jazzed up the penguin girl from Simply Charmed by adding the birthday hat from the same cartridge. The present is also from that cartridge.
I have entered this card into this week's challenge at Birthday Sundaes.

It's Your Bird-Day!!
I believe this is my first "scene" card and let me tell you it was not a quick one to make but in the end I love it!! It came out on paper like I imagined in my mind:-)
The little green blob on the party hat is some green stickles and they look much better in person:-) They weren't dry yet when I took the picture, oops!
Recipe:
Bird from simply charmed
Sun, flowers and clouds from CAC
Party Hat from Sweet Treats
Cattails from Everyday Paper dolls (I think or else it was PDDU)
Grass behind cattails cut with my wavy trimmer from Creative Memories
